A diamond cut finish wheel is progressively taking the market by storm. A diamond cut finish can be recognized by looking for a shiny, bare metal effect on the wheel, often in combination with a painted colour surface. Diamond cutting is sometimes referred to as diamond polishing as the process produces a highly polished metal effect. At Centurion Mag Repairs the diamond cut finish is achieved by first painting the wheel the desired color of choice, then using a specialized wheel turning lathe with a diamond tipped cutter (hence the term) to remove a paper-thin layer of alloy from the face of the wheel. The process is done before the protective lacquer (clear coat) is applied to the wheel. This state-of-the-art method allows us precise control over the finished cut of the mag wheel and therefore enables us to repair wheels that other companies will not attempt to repair. Diamond cutting can be applied to the full face and lip of the wheel. Combined with an application of base coat paint it can produce some spectacular finishes.
